Part 2: Highlighters for Dry Skin types!
What are highlighters?
Highlighters are a product, along with contouring, that allows the wearer to add depth and dimension to the face. It gives the skin a “dewy” look, if applied correctly. If applied, incorrectly (i.e applied in areas of redness), highlighters can draw attention to these problem areas. So please! Use the appropriate foundation and concealer to give you a flawless appearance.
What should I look for?
Following similiar rules to foundation, powders aren’t the best choice. You don’t want your skin looking flaky–so choose a liquid or cream highlighter.
As far as skin tones goes;
- People with tan or darker tan tones should find highlighters with peach or coral color to them. Don’t go too peachy for this will cause your skin to look ashy or chalky! Face Atelier Ultra Sheer Pro blush, bronzer, and highlighter in Peach works, as well as Josie Maran’s Argan Enlightment Illuminizer.
- If your skin tone matches Brown and Bronze (India Arie or Viola Davis) , look for highlighters with beautiful gold shimmer. Ilia’s illuminizer in Cosmic Dancer has a golden hue. And you can expand your horizons by using eyeshadow as a highlighter (Why not?!). Au Naturale has a creme eyeshadow in gold that will work as a highlighter if applied right above the cheekbone.
